How to turn a photo into a video with AI
Bring a still photo to life as a short clip: one photo with your own words, or a whole set of photos at once, each with a movement that suits it.
A still photo is good. The same photo moving, a turn, a smile, a step towards the camera, is what people stop scrolling for.
The short answer
Use the photo as the first frame of the clip and describe the movement. Sable does it one photo at a time in Video, or many at once in Batch.
One photo, in your own words
- Open Video in the menu.
- Add the photo as the starting picture. It keeps the face and the scene.
- Describe the movement: what she does, and how the camera moves. For example: "she turns to the camera and smiles, the camera slowly moves closer".
- Pick a model, such as Kling 3.0, Google Veo 3.1 or Seedance 2, then its length and quality. Some models also make sound.
- Press Generate. A clip takes a minute or two.
Many photos at once
- Open Batch and choose Animate photos at the top.
- Pick the model, the Length and the Quality.
- Drop in up to 20 photos and choose how many versions of each, up to 4.
- Press Run the batch.
Each photo gets a movement that suits it, like walking up the stairs, leaning closer to the mirror, or a turn and a smile. Add your own words if every clip should do something, for example "she sings along".
Tips
- Describe one movement. Several at once tend to blur together.
- Start from a picture you already like, rather than a description.
- Not every model keeps the face from the photo. Check the first second of the clip, and try another model if it drifts.
- Try short and low quality first. Longer clips and higher quality cost more.
What it costs
A clip costs from 30 credits ($0.30), depending on the model, the length and the quality. The price shows on the Generate button, and in Batch the total shows before you run it.
