How to give your AI character a voice, or make one from your own
Make your character say any line in a voice you choose, design a new voice from a few words, or copy your own voice from a voice memo.
A face that never speaks only goes so far. A voice makes her a person: a greeting, a reply, a line over a clip.
The short answer
Type the line and pick the voice. Sable's Voice tool makes the clip. The voice can be one of ours, one you design, or your own.
Make her say a line
- Open Voice in the menu.
- Type what she says.
- Pick a voice: one of the built in voices, or one of yours under My voices.
- Press Generate. The clip lands in your library.
Design a new voice
- Open My voices and press Design a voice.
- Choose how it should sound, add anything else in a few words, and give it a name.
- Press Make three takes, listen, and keep the one you like.
Use your own voice
- Open My voices and press Copy my voice.
- Record a voice memo on your phone. Start by reading the sentence shown on the page out loud, then keep talking for at least 10 seconds about anything. Only you, no music.
- Upload it, tick that it is your own voice, and press Create voice.
Only your own voice can be copied: the sentence at the start shows it is you, and the rest must be the same person. A designed voice cannot be based on a real person either.
Give your character her voice
Open My characters, open her editor and pick her voice. When you then put her into a clip with a Motion Control model in Video, the Voice setting can keep the clip's own sound, take it out, or change the voice to hers.
Tips
- Short lines sound most natural. Write the way people talk.
- A quiet room makes a better voice memo than a busy one.
What it costs
Every line, design and copy shows its price on the button before you press it.
